Pinterest-ing Wednesday: Cowgirl Up

(via)
Cowgirl up!  Snicker.  What does that even mean?  I honestly don't really know.  However, I am cowgirlin' up today for the WILDLY popular "Oh, How Pinterest-ing Wednesday" with Michelle of The Vintage Apple.  Put your cowgirl boots on Michelle!

I've shared with you that I was raised on a farm.  We should establish that this farm was in the middle of NOWHERE!  As a teenager, growing up in a small town seemed like a fate worse than death.  It was BORING!  Twenty-one years ago, I graduated from high school and left the country life behind.  I put away my cowgirl boots, and put the pastures, garden, fruit trees, and the cows in the rear-view mirror.  I never looked back...until lately. Are we always on a slow gravitational pull to who we once were?  Every now and then, I miss the slow crawl of time and the simplicity of country life.  I miss how green the air smells, the wide-open spaces, and the early morning rooster.  (Sentimental sigh here)  But mostly, I miss my COWGIRL BOOTS!  Was I a cowgirl?  I don't think so.  I was a country girl.  I have stepped in more cow poop than anyone I currently know, and that counts for something!  Luckily for me, cowgirl chic has crept into current fashion...even in the big city.  Cowgirl up!

Another dress for cowgirl boots!

I love these boots!  I would wear these with a little dress on a summer night or, with a sweater and jeans in the winter.

  3. I used to be able to get away with cowboy boots as a kid and I loved them. Now I don't think I could. I'd stick out in LA :( I think ladies who pull it off look adorable though!

P.S. Thanks for your sweet comment on my 4th of July post ♥

  7. Hi Heather, darling! That cowgirl wedding is the cutest! I was a "cowgirl" (sorta) too. I always wanted a horse as a child, but we lived in the suburbs. I begged my whole childhood long. I put horse pictures up on the wall of my bedroom. I drew horse pictures. I pretended to be a horse on the playground (embarrassing I know .. mind you, I was little!) When I was in highschool, we moved to eight acres and an apple orchard and my dad bought me a Tennessee Walker. I rode and ran and jumped and had pretty much the time of my life. Then, when boys became a bigger part of my life than horses, I kind of started to lose a little of my horse-fever, but even now, I love to go to stables somewhere and ride every autumn ;) xoxo
