Recipe: Vintage Pumpkin Pecan Bread


Recipe Description
A delicious, fragrant pumpkin bread is perfect for fall. Nothing says love and nostalgia like this Vintage Pumpkin Pecan Bread.  This recipe is from a 1950's cookbook. 

Ingredients
  • 1 cup Peanut Oil
  • 4  Lightly Beaten Eggs
  • ⅔ cups Water
  • 2 cups Canned Pumpkin
  • 3-½ cups Flour
  • 2 teaspoons Salt
  • 2 teaspoons Ground Nutmeg
  • 1-½ teaspoon Baking Soda
  • 2 teaspoons Cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon Ground Cloves
  • ½ teaspoons Ground Ginger
  • 1-½ cup Brown Sugar
  • 1-½ cup Sugar
  • 1 cup Chopped Pecans (add to batter last)
  • ¼ cups Powdered Sugar (for dusting)
Preparation Instructions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Stir dry ingredients together in a large bowl and set aside. Mix wet ingredients together. Stir the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients. Stir the pecans in last. Spoon batter into two greased and floured loaf pans. Bake for 1 hour 10 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool. Dust the entire loaf with powdered sugar or dust by the slice. Makes 2 loaves.
